The Business Line - Published on September 10, 2015

Mobile-based payment app Chillr is set to tie up with a large number of public sector banks soon. Currently, the app is being used mainly by customers of HDFC Bank with whom it tied up earlier this year.

The app enables sending money from your bank account to anyone in your smart phone contact list even without knowing their bank account number.

The Chillr app is on course to tying up with about 15 top banks in the country by the end of the fiscal, Sony Joy, Co-founder and CEO, MobME Wireless Solutions, said.

MobMe, the incubator of Chillr, was started in 2006 as a start-up for creating apps for telecom companies. Subsequently, the desire to own customers, tap into the network of multiple companies and customers using their product led to the Chillr project in December 2013, Sony said.

The app has so far seen about three lakh downloads since its launch in February this year, Sony said. Around 2.6 lakh transactions worth about Rs. 13.5 crore have taken place so far.

The app rides on the IMPS platform and facilitates immediate and easy transfer of funds and settlement of payments between different types of users.

[07:33, 9/12/2015] ‪+ Well most of us know about banking headquarters and how to learn them. Today I dedicate my post to those who are still dubious.

First have a concise about Nationalization of Bank. It had done by erstwhile Prime Minister "Indira Gandhi"  after the recommendation of Dr. M. S. Swaminathan (Mankombu Sambasivan Swaminathan).

First 14 banks got nationalized in 19th July, 1969 with the total deposit of 50 cr. above.

Second phase of nationalization consisted 6 banks with 200 cr. and took place in 15th April, 1980.

Now we will discuss about HQ.

*Let's start with the huge numbers. If talk about Mumbai so how many headquarters does it have? It's 6.

~~ State Bank of India (SBI) - Arundhati Bhattacharya (CMD)
~~ IDBI - M.S. Raghavan (CMD)
~~ Dena Bank - Ashwani Kumar (CMD)
~~ Union Bank of India - Arun Tiwari (CMD)
~~ Bank of India  - Smt V.R. Iyer (CMD)
~~ Central Bank Of India - Rajeev Rishi (CMD)

##TRICK- Besides IDBI, Dena and United Bank of India (Kolkata) every bank which ends with "Bank of India" has the HQ in Mumbai.

*Now it's time for Kolkata. How many bank's headquarters does it have? It's 3.

~~ UCO Bank - Arun Kaul (CMD)
~~ United Bank of India - Shri P Srinivas (CMD)
~~ Allahabad Bank - Rakesh Sethi (CMD)

##TRICK- UCO United Allahabad, Kolkata mein hain teeno saath.

*Even New Delhi also has the same number of headquarters.

~~ Punjab National Bank - Not Occupied
~~ Punjab and Sindh Bank - Jatinder Bir Singh (CMD)
~~ Oriental Bank of Commerce - Animesh Chauhan (CMD)

##TRICK- New Delhi has 2 "Punjab" and 1 "Oriental".

*Chennai has 2 headquarters.

~~ Indian Bank - T. M. Bhasin (CMD)
~~ Indian Overseas Bank - R Koteeswaran (CMD)

##TRICK- Chennai has only 2 "India"

*Bangalore follows Chennai.

~~ Canara Bank - T. N. Manoharan (CMD)
~~ Vijaya Bank - V. Kannan (CMD)

##TRICK- Canara ki Vijay bus Bangalore mein hai.

* Bank of Baroda - Baroda - Ranjan Dhawan (CMD)

* Andhra Bank - Hyderabad - C . V. R. Rajendran (CMD)

* Bank of Maharashtra - Pune - Sushil Muhnot (CMD)

##TRICK- Just see it meticulously. These 3 banks refer 3 states and have headquarters in their related cities.

* Corporation Bank - Manglore - S. R. Banksal (CMD)

* Syndicate Bank - Manipal - Arun Shrivastava (CMD)

##TRICK- Do Corporate with Manglore and Sync with Manipal.

State Bank of India has 5 associates bank.

* State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur - Jaipur - Jyoti Ghosh (MD)

* State Bank of Hyderabad - Hyderabad - Santanu Mukherjee (MD)

* State Bank of Mysore - Bangalore -  Sharad Sharma (MD)

* State Bank of Patiala - Patiala - S. A. Ramesh Rangan (MD)

* State Bank of Travancore - Thiruvanthapuram - Jeevan Dass Narayan (MD)

##TRICK- In this I don't think you need any trick as it's conspicuous that besides State Bank of Mysore (Hyderabad) every bank has same HQ.

Note- State Bank of Saurashtra (2008) and Indore ( 2010) merged in SBI.

Processing System mediates between the input system and output system, which is process of thinking as done by the computer. Processing Systems includes
 Calculations
 Comparisons
 Decisions

The thinking process in the computer is done by manipulating the digital digits as all information in modern computer is stored as a string of zeros or ones off or on. 1bit= one on or off position 1 byte = 8 bits The entire processing part occurs in the central processing unit of the computer system.

COMPONENTS OF PROCESSING UNITS
Central Processing Unit (CPU) Central Processing Unit or CPU is also known as the brain of computer where entire processing is done. Most of the computers contain one processing chip.

CONTROL UNIT (CU)
This is the part of the computer, which controls the machine cycle. It takes a number of cycles to do even a simple addition of two numbers. It performs the various functions:
 Fetch: It gets an instruction from main memory.
 Decode: It translates it into computer commands.
 Execute: It processes the command.
 Store: It writes the result to main memory.

ARITHMETIC LOGIC UNIT (ALU)
 It is the part, which executes the computer's commands.
 It does either a basic arithmetic operation or the logical comparisons.
 The arithmetic operation may include+ – * /
 The logical comparisons may include > < = not =

Machine Cycle Fetch In this cycle an instruction is fetched from the main memory. Decode In this cycle, the fetched instruction is translated into the computer commands. Execute In this cycle, the command is actually processed. Store In this cycle, the result is written into the main memory. The immense speed of the computer enables it to do millions of such steps in a second.

MEMORY ADDRESSES
A memory address holds 1 byte of data where
 1 bit = 0 or 1/on or off
 1 byte = 8 bits
 1 kilobyte = 1024 bytes
 1 megabyte = 1024 kilobytes (K or KB)

PROCESSOR SPEED
 Processor speed is affected by system clock rate.
 The rate of an electronic pulse is used to synchronize processing.
 It is measured in megahertz (MHz) where 1 MHz = 1 million cycles per second or in gigahertz (GHz) where 1 GHz = 1 billion cycles per second

PHYSICAL COMPONENTS OF COMPUTER
The Physical Components of a computer are directly involved in processing. They are
 Microprocessor
 Memory device
 Motherboard

MICROPROCESSOR
 This is a single silicon chip containing CPU, ALU and some memory.
 The microprocessor chip is located on a large circuit board called the main board or motherboard.
 The physical size of a computer chip is very small.

MEMORY DEVICES
They may include Vacuum Tube This is the oldest type that cannot hold up long and generate a lot of heat. Core These are small metal rings that represents on and off. They are relatively slow. Semi Conductor This is integrated circuit on a chip. The modern computers use this for their memory. Motherboards The motherboards have a number of slots for memory and all the slots contain the same size memory board. Connectors This is the slot where cables connect to motherboard for the things like hard drives, floppy drives and CD Rom drives. ISA Slots This board has three slots for the things like video cards, sound cards, internal modems etc. Keyboard Plug This is the slot where the keyboard attaches through the back of computer.

MEMORY SLOTS
 There are four short slots for the semiconductor memory.
 This board has two long slots for a new kind of memory called DIMM DRAM.
 This board can support a maximum of 256 MB of memory.

PCI Slots This board contains four slots for the peripherals like video cards, internal modems, sound cards etc. Power connection This is the slot where power supply connects to the motherboard. Processor Socket This is the slot where the processor plugs into the motherboard.
